Apple has started rolling out iOS 27, and the update is reaching iPhones used in Romania as well. Siri AI is the feature attracting the most attention, but its launch comes with an important limitation for people in the European Union: it is not initially available on iPhone and iPad.
What iOS 27 brings to iPhone
Beyond AI, iOS 27 aims to make the phone faster and easier to personalize. Apple says apps can open up to 30% faster, photos can load up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers can be up to 80% quicker. Those figures come from the company’s internal testing, so real-world results will depend on the model, available storage, and battery condition.
The Liquid Glass interface gains more controls, including an option to adjust transparency. Everyday changes also show up in animations, app launches, the keyboard, the app library, and the switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. On older phones, these system improvements may matter more than the AI features.
Siri AI is not coming to EU iPhones yet
Apple describes the new Siri as a more conversational assistant that can understand personal context, answer questions about what is on screen, and perform actions across apps. The company is launching it in beta in English, with more languages scheduled to follow.
For Romania, the key issue is the region: Apple says Siri AI is not initially available in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Features that depend on it are restricted at the same time. The situation is different on Mac and Vision Pro, and Apple has not provided a firm date for enabling the feature on iPhones in the EU.
This does not mean every Apple Intelligence feature disappears from European devices. Availability varies by model, language, and region, and Romanian is not included in Apple’s current language list. Full AI functionality generally requires newer hardware, such as the iPhone 15 Pro or later compatible generations.
Which models can install the update
Apple’s compatibility list starts with the iPhone 11 and includes later models, along with the second- and third-generation iPhone SE. Compatibility with iOS 27 does not guarantee access to every Apple Intelligence feature, which has separate hardware and language requirements.
Is the update worth installing?
For most users, the answer is yes, as long as the phone has enough free space and a recent backup. iOS 27 brings general improvements even to models without access to Siri AI. In Romania, it is important to install the update with the right expectations: you will get the new system and interface improvements, but not the AI assistant shown in Apple’s demonstrations for markets outside the EU.
