A PRACTICAL CHECK
Is one room really slower on Wi-Fi?
Compare two download-speed readings from the same phone or laptop. The result shows the size of the difference and what to check next.
Before you measure
- Pause large downloads. Keep the same device, speed-test service, and test server for both readings.
- Take one reading near the router and one in the room that feels slow. Record the download result in Mbps.
- Repeat each location twice more if you can. A single run can change with network traffic, Wi-Fi band, or the test server.
If you want a wired baseline, use a laptop with Ethernet for all three readings. A wired result from a different device is a weaker comparison; leave the field empty if you cannot use the same laptop.
Compare your readings
Enter positive download speeds in Mbps. Leave the wired field empty if you did not test it.
The calculation runs in this browser. WiredBench does not receive or save the readings you enter.
What this run shows
- Room as a share of near-router speed
- Faster reading compared with slower
- Wired as a share of near-router speed
What to check next
These are comparisons, not a diagnosis or an internet-plan speed test. We use a 25% difference only to choose which checks to suggest. Repeat measurements before changing equipment.
